Mutua Universal is acutely aware of the environmental impact of its activities and is firmly committed to environmental protection. This commitment is reflected through responsible actions, policies and projects.

The system, implemented in all workplaces and certified under ISO 14001, provides a structured approach to managing the environmental aspects generated by the organisation’s activities.
Waste management
Ongoing improvements have been made to the recycling and waste disposal processes at Mutua Universal centres, aiming to manage resources more sustainably and reduce waste volumes.
Donation system
In 2024, Mutua Universal continued collaborating with non-profit organisations that support disadvantaged groups or individuals at risk of social exclusion.
Through its long-standing internal donation system, in place for over a decade, furniture, equipment and materials that are no longer in use or have been written off are repurposed and given a second life.

Social criteria
Social work
Mutua Universal recognises that a workplace accident or occupational illness can lead to changes in family dynamics and the emergence or worsening of social and psychosocial needs. To address these, the organisation offers a dedicated social work service for patients and their families, providing psychosocial support, information and guidance.
Socio-occupational reintegration programme
This programme addresses the needs of individuals who, as a result of a workplace accident or occupational illness, are left with a degree of incapacity that prevents them from returning to their previous role and/or have lost their job during the recovery process. It also supports individuals and families facing risk of social exclusion.
Special Benefits Committee
Mutua Universal’s Special Benefits Committee is a participatory body made up of representatives of workers (appointed by the trade unions), as well as representatives of associated employers and self-employed workers.
Its role is to manage the mutual society’s social assistance fund, assessing and addressing cases of unforeseen hardship resulting from workplace accidents or occupational illnesses.
Diversity and inclusion
Mutua Universal, in keeping with its commitment to sustainability, promotes respect for diversity and fosters inclusive, participatory environments where people can use their differences as a source of value.
Diversity Plan
In the past year, the organisation has continued to implement its Diversity Plan – a strategic initiative bringing together all of its diversity management efforts under one framework, with the aim of becoming a more inclusive organisation and generating greater value across all areas of activity.
