Preventive activities
Mutua Universal carries out preventive activities in accordance with the provisions of the current legal framework:
- Royal Decree 860/2018 of 8 July, which regulates the preventive activities under the Social Security protective coverage carried out by mutual insurance companies collaborating with Social Security.
- Resolution of 19 July 2024, issued by the State Secretariat for Social Security and Pensions, which sets out the overall plan for Social Security’s preventive activities to be carried out by partner mutual insurance companies as part of their 2025 activity plans.
The mutual insurance company’s advisory activities on accident reduction and occupational risk prevention – which include programmes and activities providing advice, technical guidance and support, as well as research, development and innovation activities designed to enable member companies to manage the prevention of workplace accidents and occupational diseases effectively, helped 4,747 companies during 2025, comprising a total of 428,554 employees and 244 self-employed workers.

Universal Wellbeing: Health Promotion Programme
This programme that promotes health and healthy habits enables organisations to manage the health and wellbeing of their staff and ensure their sustainability, while adapting to the specific needs, characteristics, objectives and level of development or scope required by each company.

Collaborative programme to reduce the accident rate
Mutua Universal supports organisations in their aim to achieve a more highly developed culture of safety and to reduce accident rates through advisory and awareness-raising initiatives on the prevention of workplace accidents and occupational illnesses.
Awareness programme and best practice guidelines on leadership and team management in occupational risk prevention
We help to integrate occupational risk prevention into the structure of organisations by applying methodologies based on raising awareness and providing training in basic social skills and competencies for those with team or leadership roles within the company.
Intercompany Technical Guidance Sessions
These conferences aim to support professionals in their day-to-day work and to promote knowledge and awareness of health and safety.
Throughout 2025, Mutua Universal organised 98 events, 95 of which were held onlineonline and three in person, attended by more than 2,300 people from companies affiliated with the organisation.

Business Observatory and Accident Report through the Members’ Area
Mutua Universal offers its member companies the Business Observatory, a digital service accessible via the Company Members’ Area, which includes the ‘Accident Report’ tool. This tool enables organisations to manage information on absenteeism independently, providing up-to-date data and accident rate indicators via an interactive dashboard to facilitate decision-making and implement corrective measures aimed at preventing and reducing accidents.
In 2025, more than 10,000 accident reports were downloaded from the Business Observatory.
Virtual Campus
The Virtual Campus platform offers partner organisations a quick, easy and flexible tool covering 24 sector-specific and across-the-board topics, including content on risks and action plans to prevent, eliminate and control workplace risks that lead to accidents, harm to health and occupational diseases.
The platform’s ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement ensure that new features, elements and technological developments are included which optimise its usability, accessibility and content.
Knowledge Sharing
Mutua Universal develops and continuously participates in activities relating to the generation of knowledge and the promotion of best practices for the management and improvement of occupational health and safety, as well as the promotion of health in the workplace.
Healthy Work Magazine
A digital magazine published quarterly, dedicated to the prevention of occupational risks and the promotion of health.

This study analyses the annual workplace accidents handled by Mutua Universal, using the related key indicators.

Innovation and Health Awards
In 2025, Mutua Universal presented the 10th Innovation and Health Awards, an annual celebration presented to member companies, institutions and organisations that implement innovative projects to improve their workers’ health and quality of life.

Gonvauto Navarra
The industrial group Gonvauto Navarra was awarded first prize in the Large Enterprise category for the implementation of digital tools designed to improve workers’ health and safety.

Second prize in this category went to Infrico for its digital transformation project for the smart management of occupational risks.
SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISES CATEGORY
Desarrollo de Sistemas Avanzados
The SME in the industrial engineering sector, Desarrollo de Sistemas Avanzados, was awarded first prize in the Small and Medium-sized Enterprise category for the company’s internal application of artificial intelligence to promote social wellbeing, efficiency, sustainability and collaboration.
Alimentos Congelados de La Rioja
The second prize in this category was awarded to Alimentos Congelados de La Rioja for creating an innovative training programme to promote health and safety at work.
INSTITUTIONAL AWARD
This institutional recognition honoured the work carried out in promoting initiatives that foster innovation, health, equality and European values among the public by the European Parliament’s Office in Madrid, and the University of Girona’s efforts to raise awareness of prevention and physical and mental health through its programme “The University of Girona, a Healthy University”.
