Preventive activities
Preventive activities in 2024 were carried out in compliance with:
- Royal Decree 860/2018 of 13 July, which regulates the preventive activities under the Social Security protective coverage carried out by mutual insurance companies collaborating with Social Security.
- Resolution of 12 July 2023, issued by the State Secretariat for Social Security and Pensions, which set out the overall plan for Social Security’s preventive activities to be carried out by partner mutual insurance companies as part of their 2024 activity plans.

Throughout 2024, occupational risk prevention support was provided to over 5,200 member companies and 421,000 workers. Companies with the highest accident rates achieved a 20% reduction in incidents.

Bienestar Universal
The health promotion and healthy habits programme, Bienestar Universal, helps member companies manage the health and wellbeing of their workforce, tailored to their specific needs, characteristics and level of development or reach.

Mutua Universal’s “Awareness and Best Practices Programme in Leadership and Team Management” contributes to integrating occupational risk prevention into organisational structures. It uses methods focused on raising awareness and training in key social skills and competences for individuals responsible for teams or leadership roles within the organisation.
ErgoCoLab
A methodology developed to support member companies in setting up and leading ergonomics groups involving active worker participation. Workers, as experts in their day-to-day tasks, help identify, analyse and resolve musculoskeletal issues in the workplace. This collaborative approach aims to deliver more realistic and viable solutions and encourages wider acceptance and implementation of ergonomic improvements.
Virtual campus for occupational risk prevention
In 2024, Mutua Universal continued to update its Virtual Campus for Occupational Risk Prevention – a platform offering courses on 24 sector-specific and cross-cutting topics. These cover workplace risks and the measures needed to prevent, eliminate or control occupational hazards that lead to accidents, health damage or occupational illnesses.

Organised by Mutua Universal within the framework of current legislation, these sessions are designed to support professionals in their day-to-day work and promote knowledge and a culture of safety and health.
In 2024, 96 virtual sessions were held, attended by more than 2,300 participants from member companies.

Healthy Work magazine

Mutua Universal publishes Healthy Work, a quarterly digital magazine dedicated to occupational risk prevention and health promotion.
Accident Observatory
In 2024, the organisation published the second edition of its Accident Observatory, a study analysing work-related accidents managed by the mutual insurance provider, based on key associated indicators.

“3 years, 0 accidents” Awards
Over the past year, Mutua Universal has acknowledged the commitment of its member companies to workplace safety and worker wellbeing through its “3 Years, 0 Accidents” awards. These certificates are presented to organisations that have recorded zero accidents at work over the past three years.
