Milestones and Strategy
Strategic Plan 2021–24
The People’s Mutual. Collaborating through Innovation.
The 2024 financial year marked the final year of Mutua Universal’s current Strategic Plan 2021–24, a collaborative initiative with a vision extending to 2030 that has defined the organisation’s strategic priorities over recent years.
Under the slogan “The People’s Mutual. Collaborating through Innovation,” the plan, structured around four strategic pillars, has placed people at the heart of all actions, aiming to humanise healthcare and promote collaboration and digitalisation through personalised services tailored to each of the organisation’s stakeholder groups.
Reflection on the New Strategic Plan

Following the conclusion of the current Strategic Plan 2021–24, Mutua Universal has conducted an in-depth analysis to develop a new plan that will guide the organisation’s future in an increasingly global, evolving, technological and sustainable environment.
This reflection process, directly involving more than 300 Mutua professionals, seeks to reinforce Mutua Universal’s innovative, people-centred, committed and efficient ethos by decisively advancing the development of personalised services in health, prevention and management, and by developing its relationships with various stakeholders.
Together, we will continue to redefine what it means to be innovative in the sector
Strategic Plan 2025–27
To address an increasingly complex and disruptive environment while maintaining a people-centred approach, Mutua Universal’s new Strategic Plan 2025–27, “People-Centred Innovation”, aims to:
- Develop the business model through innovative, proactive and personalised services.
- Care for people and their health through a committed and talented team.
- Create sustainable value in social, environmental and governance terms, as well as within the Social Security system.
Our Essence
The reflection process underpinning the new strategic plan builds on the collaborative methodology used in the previous one – defined by agility and cross-cutting collaboration – and has led to a reformulation of the organisation’s purpose, mission, vision and values. These have been adapted through a participatory process, in line with the Mutual of the future that we are working to build.
Purpose
We protect and care for people, contributing to the sustainability of the welfare state.
Mission
We safeguard the health and wellbeing of workers by managing services and benefits responsibly and efficiently, with a strong commitment to society and the sustainability of the system.
Vision
To be a benchmark in innovation applied to health and management, improving people’s lives through advanced and sustainable solutions.
Values
Integrity, a people-centred approach, professionalism, responsibility and innovation.

- To integrate the 2030 Agenda into Mutua Universal’s core purpose.
- To direct social action towards caring for people.
